Dutch artist Iris Compiet works eerie, strange themes that she puts to use in all kinds of projects including picture books, gallery art, concept art, sculpting, and her book Faeries of the Faultlines.“I love drawing inspiration from European folklore, mythology, fairytales or ghost stories and I don’t like to limit myself to a medium or theme. One day I’ll feel like creating funny creatures and the next I will be exploring a dark twisted tale. You can say I explore the depths of darkness to find the light,” Compiet told TUBE. recently. Storytelling is essential to her process and she “strives to lure in the spectator, to make them feel a connection to the work and open a gateway to their imagination to ignite it even further.”
