Ithaca, NY based artist Jen Lightfoot creates pastel colored nightmares. Using colored pencils, graphite, and ink on paper and wood, the academically trained artist experiments along the lines of horror and beauty. “To play with this idea, I blend grotesque imagery with bright colors, and I primarily focus on the female figure,” Lightfoot told TUBE. In addition, there is a feminist element to her art. “Our society is highly critical of women’s bodies, especially those that fall outside of the social construction of what is ‘attractive.’ I want to challenge that social construct by representing different types of women and women’s bodies.”
