Chalk It Up is a free yearly event that takes place during Labor Day weekend. This past weekend was the event’s 26th anniversary. They celebrated by creating many chalk masterpieces all over the sidewalks of Fremont Park in Downtown Sacramento. Over 200 artists worked alongside the public to create chalk artwork over the span of the three day weekend.

Along with chalk art, the event entertained with live music, vendors, food trucks and a beer garden. Lots of talented artists came to draw on the large sidewalk running around the outside of the park. Though many artists advertised for foundations like Walk to End Alzheimers and local high school performing arts programs, all of the chalk pieces were meticulous and detailed. Along the inside of the event, smaller sidewalk areas allowed attendees to create their own chalk masterpiece. Chalk It Up was a great place to take the family for some Labor Day Weekend fun. Keep an eye out for it next year!
