Can You Dodge This Direct Hit?

12 Jacket (3mm Spine) [GDOB-30H3-007}

Let Direct Hit take you on a trip this summer with their upcoming album, Wasted Mind. The 11-track story brings the listener on a journey from the perspective of drugged up and twisted characters going through a distorted reality. Nick Woods, singer, guitarist and lyricist for the band, clarifies the odd choice in topic, affirming that the lyrics embark on a trek that is more complex than that of an average junkie on a high.

The album explores consciousness and relativity through consequences of taking mind-altering substances. “It’s more of a cautionary tale – Yeah, this whole other world opens up when you start fucking with your own perception. But how does that affect your relationship with people locked in the reality you’ve left behind?” says Woods.

Wasted Mind definitely fulfills promises of pop punk goodness. The new album comes with complex tracks, starting with slow piano, moving into a striking orchestra of animated vocals, powerful guitar and bass and hard-hitting drums. Songs like “Paid in Brains” and “Artificial Confidence” help tell the stories of the “wasted minds.” Music videos that can be seen above and below.

Along with several albums, singles, demos, and tours of both the U.S. and Europe, Direct Hit has created their own hot sauce brand, many webcomics, and more than 15 music videos since the band’s beginning in 2007. The band is also going on an East Coast tour over the summer in anticipation for Wasted Mind’s release on June 24th. Check out the album with caution, because it might just melt your mind off.
