VÉRITÉ creates airy tracks with sparse instrumentations and repetitive lyrics. Her songs are atmospheric and her star is rapidly rising. The enigmatic artist sold out her first ever headlining tour last year, and included festival debuts at SXSW, Lollapalooza and Firefly in her list of achievements. She just dropped her new EP Living and already her singles ‘Constant Crush,’ ‘Underdressed,’ and ‘Gesture’ are making the social media rounds and being shared by people like Jimmy Fallon. The singles are catchy and subtle enough that they need headphones to be appreciated.
Light and bright, ‘Constant Crush’ is a soaring song about obsessing about a crush, though who or what the obsession revolves around is up for debate. Check it out below.
‘Underdressed’ is an electropop snippet of a relationship revolving around the bedroom. VÉRITÉ’s voice carries what could otherwise be a rather boring and repetitive song. Listen below.
‘Gesture’ is the darkest and slowest of the three singles. The instrumentation strays from the previous synths and bright electronics, instead allowing us to actually hear fingers sliding up the guitar neck, running over the textured strings. The lyrics feel more personal and solid, the images less disjointed and the words more focused. Judge for yourself below.
