Bass prodigy Tal Wilkenfeld has toured with Jeff Beck, played with Prince, Ryan Adams, Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson, Jackson Browne, Joe Walsh, Toto, Todd Rundgren, and Trevor Rabin. She has performed live with Sting, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler, Buddy Guy, David Gilmour and Billy Gibbons – and anchored Pharrell and Hans Zimmer at the 2015 Grammys. Originally a purely instrumental teenage jazz virtuoso, the now 29 year old musician is using her voice and releasing her first single as a singer-songwriter.
The song, ‘Corner Painter’ is atmospheric and gritty. It highlights her bluesy, twangy voice and angry lyrics with dark intensity. A good pissed-off heartbreak single, it’s the kind of song you growl through gritted teeth as the ex who dumped you for someone else walks by.
The new single was released exclusively on Rolling Stone on March 3. Have a listen here.
