This month, Canadian rockers Mother Mother released their new album Very Good Bad Thing.  Much like the band members themselves, each song has a distinct personality. The lead single “Monkey Tree” is a brightly feral song, urging listeners leave the rat race and run away to the jungle.“Modern Love” offers a chorus shimmering with anticipation. The simple but pervasive touches of “Reaper Man” build into a sinful, throbbing climax.

Though originally from Canada, Mother Mother’s appeal is not confined to their homeland. The band—frontman Ryan Guldemond, singer-keyboardist Jasmin Parkin, bassist Jeremy Page, drummer Ali Siadat, and Guldemond’s sister, singer-keyboardist Molly Guldemond—has toured the U.S. extensively with bands like Imagine Dragons and AWOLNATION. Very Good Bad Thing was produced by Gavin Brown (Metric, Three Days Grace), who was essential in taking band’s countless ideas and distilling them in a singular vision. The album follows the band’s desire to expand their soundscapes and continue their creative progression. With the release of Very Good Bad Thing and a jampacked upcoming summer tour, Mother Mother seems set for just that.

Very Good Bad Thing is on sale now from Def Jam Recordings. Check out the newly released video for ‘Monkey Tree’ below.
