Don’t Want To Fight- Alabama Shakes- This song has a sparse but funky vibe in line with recent work by Arctic Monkeys and the Black Keys. ‘Don’t Want to Fight’ is a catchy head bobbing tune full of wrung out emotion beautifully expressed by the Shakes’ bluesy singer. The track is off of the band’s new album Sound & Color due April 21.

The Ground Walks, with Time in a Box- Modest Mouse. After a long time waiting, eight years to be specific, Modest Mouse is bringing awesome back. Their highly anticipated Strangers To Ourselves is due out next month. This month’s single off of the album manages to be energetic in a Talking Heads way with oddly mellow psychedelic cerebral elements.

Hey Now-Matt And Kim- This bright, poppy song is hard not to dance along to even when sitting down. The band which has been on the prowl for the last 2 years have kept true to their simplistic style and exciting energy. ‘Hey Now’ is off of Matt and Kim’s upcoming album New Glow due April 7th.

Need- Geographer – The new track from the San Francisco band is full of dreamy synth, heavy drums, and plaintively beautiful vocals. This complex track is best listened to through headphones so the various overlaying tracks can be appreciated. The atmospheric song was released just last week and is off of Geographer’s upcoming album Ghost Modern due March 24th.

What Kind of Man- Florence + The Machine– This new song from the ever amazing Florence and the Machine continues in the vein of her earlier work, using powerful vocals, and clever, catchy lyrics to explore rocky relationships with violent undertones. Somewhat fittingly, the song is on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack. The chorus [“what kind of man/loves like this?”] seems directed at Christian Grey and his much disputed, and some would say incorrect, practice of BDSM. Whether this was the original intent or not, the song will also be released on Florence’s upcoming album How Big How Blue How Beautiful due June 1st.
