Duck Dash to Benefit Childrens Musical Therapy Programs

lRemember playing with your rubber duck as a child in the bathtub? This is your chance to adopt one, or many, of those cute little ducks and watch it race thousands of others in the Calypso Cooler, an 800-foot-long lazy river, at Raging Waters Sacramento at Cal Expo. There will be great prizes for the top 5 finishers!

Funds raised by The Duck Dash will be used to start a music therapy program in the Child Life Program at Sutter Children’s Center, Sacramento. Proceeds from fundraising events are used to help children and families cope with their medical experiences. Therapists use a variety of techniques that have been proven to be effective in helping children and adolescents reach a wide range of physical and psychological goals through music. These programs and activities include educating children about their illnesses, preparing them for procedures and surgeries, offering normal childhood play experiences (toys, games, arts & crafts, movies, etc), celebrating holidays and special events, etc. Musical activities and therapeutic techniques include listening to live music, songwriting, singing, live music making and improvisation, song lyric analysis, and/or guided relaxation.

Join in to help benefit this great organization and improve the lives of children through music therapy!

The fun starts Saturday, June 15th at 5:00 PM at Raging Waters waterpark at Cal Expo
